- 3g dried kombu

Wipe the kombu with a dry cloth to remove dirt, then use kitchen scissors to make small cuts in the kombu.

Place the kombu and water in a large microwave-safe container and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Heat uncovered in a 600W microwave for 3–4 minutes until it starts to bubble.

Remove the kombu from the container.
