Cut the corn in half horizontally, then slice the kernels off the cob.

Heat half the salad oil in a pan and cook the salmon until browned on both sides. Remove from the pan.

Wipe the pan clean with a paper towel, add the remaining salad oil, and sauté the corn until charred. Add soy sauce and stir to combine.

In a rice cooker, add the soaked rice, seasoning ingredients, and water up to the 2-cup mark. Flatten the rice, then add the corn kernels, corn cob, and salmon on top. Cook as usual.

Remove the salmon and corn cob from the rice cooker. Debone and remove the skin from the salmon, then flake the meat back into the rice cooker. Mix well and add butter, stirring to combine.
